‘HOME SWEET HOME: A Celebration of America’.

OPEN CALL for entries closes October 17th, 2021.

Photo Art Pavilion’s very own, Joanne Henig, is set to curate an exciting online photographic exhibit, ‘HOME SWEET HOME: A Celebration of America’.

Juror, Joanne Henig, has developed a long-standing reputation for giving voice to the art medium of photography and curates much of the art available for sale right here on PhotoArtPavilion.com.

The online exhibit will feature photographic works that depict different interpretations and representations of Home Sweet Home in America. This Home Sweet Home theme can vary greatly in interpretation. In the past year, Home Sweet Home has been transformed into something new for many. The landscape of the home has been changed. For some, the home landscape has changed forever.

If you have not done so already, you’re invited to participate in this juried open call.

Digital submission deadline: October 17th, 2021
Notification of accepted works: October 22nd, 2021
Online display and art print sale offering: October 25th, 2021 – Perpetuity
Virtual ZOOM reception & awards presentation: Thursday, November 18th, 2021 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Distant Guardian

It’s no secret that lighthouses have been guarding the coasts around the world for centuries. Photographers, like myself, often gravitate to them. The imagery of lighthouses makes for great art subjects.

Pictured in this post is one of my favorite images of the Montauk Point Lighthouse, titled ‘Distant Guardian‘. The lighthouse at Montauk Point, the easternmost point of Long Island’s south fork, stands guard along the Atlantic Ocean coastline. The Montauk Historical Society declares that the lighthouse is world-famous!

The Montauk Point Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in New York State. This National Historic Landmark has been part of Long Island’s land and seascape for over 200 years and still serves as an active aid to navigation.
