I began my career documenting family life and making snapshots of my surroundings. I believe photography gave me many gifts, namely the superpowers of observation, introspection, and curiosity about what I saw.
As a commercial printer for news organizations including Newsday, The New York Times advertising, and Sotheby’s I learned the technical side of what makes a good print. As a photojournalist and reporter for New York, Connecticut, and Georgia news outlets I captured the ‘decisive moment’ that tells a story and continue to value the beauty of an emotional exchange, or the way light can make something ordinary into something extraordinary.
I truly enjoy making images because it gives me a sense of appreciation for the present moment. That in and of itself is a blessing. Photography is a great tool for communicating ideas, which I love to do, especially for nonprofits.
