Description: The boathouses on Canandaigua Lake in New York’s Finger Lakes region are picturesque historic structures like no other. Although the Canandaigua City Pier was built in 1848, the first boathouses were built there during the 1850s. With their colors and individual distinctions, the boathouses reflect an earlier, simpler lifestyle and the area residents' continuing use and love of the lake. Captured on a misty overcast day, this painterly photo captures reflections in the water that make this autumn landscape robust with depth, texture and soothing hues.
