Description: I’ll never forget the moment I captured this image on Antelope Island. The air was quiet, the grass was dry and golden, and then—out of the stillness—this massive bison stepped into view. He moved slowly, confidently, like he owned every inch of the landscape. Standing there, watching him graze, I felt as if I’d been allowed into a world that most people never truly see. His size alone was incredible, but it was the way he carried himself that struck me. Powerful, ancient, almost mythical. The way the light touched his fur, the orange sheen across his shoulder, the dark weight of his body—it all came together in a way that felt unreal. I knew immediately that this was a moment I had to capture. As I raised my camera, the bison paused as if acknowledging my presence. Not threatened, not bothered—just aware. And in that brief pause, everything aligned: the texture of the grass, the quiet breeze, his massive form framed perfectly in the scene. This became one of the most amazing wildlife shots I’ve ever taken. A single photograph, but one that holds the spirit of Antelope Island—the wildness, the history, and the quiet strength of the bison that still roam there today.
