Description: A large portion of the beach has been washed away immediately west of the Fire Island Light. Nature is doing it's best to recreate the inlet next to the lighthouse in spite of the dune reclamation project. Sand was brought in & the dunes rebuilt & planted with sea grass. However, it looks like nature is still getting it's way.
