Description: The Erechtheum sits alongside the Parthenon on top of the Acropolis. The elegant temple of Erechtheion was constructed in Pentelic marble between 421–406 BC. It was destroyed in the 1st century BC but was rebuilt several times since then. The southeastern corner facing us is the Caryatids, sometimes known as the Muses.
