Location: Montmartre, Paris, France
Description: The Basilica of Sacre Coeur was built as an act of expiation for the sins of the Commune, which rose up against the French Government during the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. It's construction took until 1914, when it was consecrated just in time for the the Great War. Happily, Montmartre is also famous for being the haunt of wonderful post Impressionist artists and for generally just being super cute to visit. Iconic Paris!
