Description: The awe inspired by magnificent places often sets the imagination free to make strange connections or to dream daydreams. This sight immediately transported me to the famous statuary group of Auguste Rodin: the Burghers of Calais. worn down by weariness, hunger and fear, they staggered out of their city with nooses around their necks to surrender to the English invaders. Happily their tormenters had the mercy to pardon them.
