Description: The USS Constellation (sloop of war) was built in 1854 as a replacement for the original frigate of the same name. This frigate's name originated from the flag of the Continental Congress. Because of her swift sailing speed and handling ability, USF Constellation soon became known as the "Yankee Racehorse." This ship was heavily involved in finding and capturing slave trade ships. It has been completely restored to be accurate to the features on the ship when it was being used in 1854-1894. It is now a museum. The cannons were ready to use against any enemy approach or to intimidate slave ships.
