Location: Zagreb, Croatia
Description: This location was directly below the Zagreb Cathedral and I initially came upon it during the harsh light of the mid-day sun. I could see the image potential and noted the street light on the wall, knowing that it would be an effective light source for a night shot. I returned at 11pm that evening and spent about 30 minutes engaged with this scene. I love how shooting with a tripod forces a methodical approach causing me to slow down and be “in the moment”. Once the image is framed, I will often stand next to the tripod and just take the scene in. There is a beautiful arched doorway with an entry gargoyle just to the right of this image (which I also shot) but I felt that this was the stronger of the two images. I am very selective of which images I show and never present more than one image of the same scene. (Pick the strongest one and stick with it)!
