Description: An old mining town that survived, nestled along a section of the old route 66 in the black mountains of northwestern Arizona is the little village of Oatman. In 1863, a prospector in the area discovered gold where Oatman now stands. The burros are descendants of those used by the miners, when the town of Oatman, Arizona started shutting down mining operations, the miners no longer had a use for the burros, so they just released them, and the burros now roam the southwest desert territory.
