Into The Wilderness – A Wildlife & Nature Virtual Juried Photo Exhibit Open Call

Photo Art Pavilion is proud to announce a hosted open call; Into The Wilderness Virtual Juried Exhibit. 
This virtual exhibit will be a collection of photographs from around the world that capture the beauty and diversity of the natural world. We’re looking for images that showcase the unique qualities of wildlife and their habitats. Or even elements of nature that dazzle the senses.  

Enter your captivating photographs that seize the beauty of the natural world. From majestic mammals to colorful birds, we’re looking for creative and unique images that capture the spirit of wildlife and the beauty of being in nature.  

We are looking for high-quality photos that demonstrate creativity and skill. We’ll be looking for photos that capture the essence of wildlife, but we’re also open to abstract and unusual shots that demonstrate artistic vision. 

The Into The Wilderness Virtual Juried Exhibit is an open call for photographers of all backgrounds or anyone with a passion for photography to submit their best wildlife and nature captures. 


Rich LaBella is an awardwinning photographer with over 30 years of experience as a nature and wildlife photographer. His work has been featured in galleries, publications, and in exhibits. He has also won numerous awards for his photography, with the Universe of Colour Photography International Photo Contests, Long Island Photo Gallery – New York, New York Juried Exhibits (both in-person and online exhibits), Boat-US Magazine Photo Contest, and with the Islip Arts Council. Plus Rich is a member and was a past-president of the Nature and Wildlife Photographers of Long Island (NWPL)

Rich LaBella’s photography is well known for its vivid and captivating imagery. He is able to capture the beauty of nature and wildlife in a way that is both informative and captivating. Rich is also an advocate of bringing awareness of that often-overlooked beauty in nature and wildlife behavior through his work. He prefers dynamic images to static “portraits” and tries to bring a better appreciation & understanding of our world through showing the interaction of nature, creatures, objects, and places that we might not notice around us.

Overall Rich LaBella’s art photography has made a lasting impact with his nature and wildlife photography.

This open call is open to anyone who has a passion for photography.

No matter if you are a professional photographer or someone who enjoys taking snapshots, we want to see your best work. Whether you prefer to capture the scene with a DSLR, a point-and-shoot, a smartphone, or anything else, we are looking for creative shots and interesting perspectives.

The Into The Wilderness Virtual Juried Exhibit Reception will be held online on May 10th, 2023, at 7 PM EST via Zoom.

The virtual reception will also be recorded and posted on our Photo Art Pavilion YouTube Channel.

First Place: $125.
Second place: $75.
Third place: $50.

Entry Fee: $35.00

  • Submitted photographs should be taken in the wild, with minimal interference from the photographer. 
  • All submissions must be free of any watermarks or branding.  
  • Photos should be in digital format, ideally in JPEG format.
  • Submit up to 5 digital images at 72 dpi, with the largest edge being 1500 – 2000 pixels long.
  • The filename should contain your title.
  • Submissions will be accepted until April 21st, 2023. 
  • Photographers can submit up to five images per $35 entry.  
  • Only photographically based works depicting the theme will be considered.
  • The entry fee is $35 for five images to be considered and is non-refundable.

Notifications will be sent out on: April 28th, 2023
Online display available: May 5th, 2023
Artist reception & awards presentation: Wednesday, May 10th, 2023 at 7:00PM



All submitted artists will be notified via email by the end of the day, April 28th, 2023.

  • Awards will be announced during the live Zoom reception
  • Social media posts will be sent out after the live Zoom reception concludes.
  • Award winners will receive an email informing them of an award in their name.
  • Checks will be mailed to the winners after the live Zoom reception date; May 10th, 2023.
